David L. Broughton
Retired Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Nidus
Center
David L. Broughton brought extensive experience
in financial and business management to his position as chief operating
officer of Nidus Center for Scientific Enterprise for over five
years. His responsibilities included commercialization of plant
and life science technologies through the implementation of the
incubator business plan. He led the internal operations of Nidus
Center and supports the clients in such areas as business plan
development, strategic planning, coaching and management recruitment.
As Director of Strategic Initiatives for Monsanto,
David led a regional group in the development of the Nidus Center
concept that has evolved into a world-class business incubator.
As the key finance person for a major business unit in Monsanto,
he was responsible for all areas of finance and has considerable
experience in business reengineering and evaluating business models.
On a regional level, David is involved in initiatives
that are focused on creating the infrastructure necessary for entrepreneurial
companies to be successful such as very early stage commercialization
activity, availability of venture capital and facilities creation.
He is very active in The Coalition for Plant and Life Sciences,
Technology Gateway, Missouri Venture Forum and Missouri Biotechnology
Association.
David did his undergraduate work at the University
of Missouri-Columbia. He received executive management training
at Harvard University Business School and The Wharton School of
the University of Pennsylvania.
