Creating Jobs in Clusters Economic development officials here are embracing the concept of industry clusters -- geographic concentrations of interconnected companies. While St. Louis has a few established clusters, two others -- plant and life sciences and information technology -- are emerging. Officials seek to build on the region's strength in those areas and make St. Louis attractive to promising young companies.
